The “Better Buildings Initiative” calls for commercial facilities to be 20 percent more efficient by 2020. Real estate investment trusts and building owners under this program will be able to receive an increased tax deduction. Financing for energy efficiency improvement of facilities will be available through lenders working with the Small Business Administration.
